The work I am submitting reflects myself as an artist; diverse, innovative and full of life.I have included a variety of portraiture as well as, fashion design sketches, printmaking, concert flyers, sculpture design, and life drawing exercises.
It also includes a mounted final outcome of my most previous brief entitled "Global Threads". Initially, our aim was to represent England's cotton industry in the format of six postcards, in which I chose to focus on the physical and emotional voyage slaves where forced to make during this time. I started creating a series of collographs printed onto different coloured card. I portrayed a ship venturing across the ocean, as one would have to, to get the people from Point A to Point B. The cards were printed in very rustic, antique-like colours, but highlighted with bright and metallic accents to add a twist. These would be my "Postcards". I chose a not so archetypal postcard format though, as many people collect for themselves, not necessarily to send to others. My post revelation to this end piece was to create more and more postcards, but with different colours. These could then be assembled horizontally and overlapping at the masts, to create one very long piece.
Many of my hobbies, interests and past experiences have all been art related. It's a passion to want to be able to create and master all things artistic. I aspire to become a graphic designer for a major company and commissioned artist for musicians. Growing up in the States and my local music scene, I created flyer artwork for many bands. The experience I received creating for them, shows my abilities of responsibly working with deadlines and teamwork capabilities, as well as using various levels of graphic design tools.
In my free time I sometimes find myself playing and experimenting with digital audio/music programs, creating "beats" as well. I have a large amount of experience working with fashion, from designing to post production . This piece below is a fashion lineup I designed for a Fashion Merchandising course I completed a
while back.
